Divine Names & Voces:
Ἀγαθὸς Δαίμων
Description: Both sides upright oval and flat. Shape 8. Green jasper with red spots (heliotrope), damaged in two places at the right edge of side A. Set in a modern gold mount with a revolving bezel.
Purchased in Egypt in 1821 through A. E. Burghart.

A: Harpocrates sitting nude, to right, upon a lotus flower with two buds. Head topped with the atef-crown. Right hand raised to mouth, left hand bent in elbow and holding a flail. Four groups of vowels around the figure, divided by an eight-pointed star on the right, and by a character on the left:
1. ω|ωυ|ωυο|ωυοι|ωυοιη||ωυοιηε|ωυοιηεα → the Greek vowel series backward, in pterygoma form. 
2. α|αε|αεη|αεηι|αεηιο||αεηιου|αεηιουω → the Greek vowel series in pterygoma form.
3. α|αε|αεη|αεηι|αεηιο||αεηιου|αεηιουω → the Greek vowel series in pterygoma form.
4. ω|ωυ|ωυ[.]|ωυο[.]|ωυοιη||ωυοιηε|ωυοιηεα → the Greek vowel series backward, in pterygoma form. 
B: Greek inscription in ten lines: κρατισ|τωθυμοσ|σαραπιωνο|σπροσεμε|διδυμηνκαι||χαριτωσον|μεδιδυμην| 
προσαγαθο|νδαιμον|α → κρατίστω (κρατείσθω) θυμὸς Σαραπίωνος πρὸς ἐμὲ Διδύμην καὶ χαρίτωσόν με Διδύμην πρὸς Ἀγαθὸν Δαίμονα. 'May the soul of Sarapion hold on to me, Didyme, and love me, Didyme - (I beg) by Agathos Daimon.'
